How often have you heard students say they aren't a math person? Or how about teachers saying kids don't have the grit to stick with tough problems? In this session we will explore a way administrators can prove both statements wrong through dynamic and thought-provoking math activities tailored to engage students effectively. Using monthly "Math challenges" administrators can foster deep mathematical understanding and critical thinking skills among students in a way that kids think is fun. This session will look at how to engage your whole school, all grades, in a monthly contest which kids will want to take part in. We will examine how to make math physical, visual, interesting, stimulating, and most importantly, accessible. By the conclusion of the session, administrators have a series of activities that will cultivate a math-rich environment that inspires curiosity and enthusiasm for mathematical exploration among students.
