Over the course of the past few years, the Stoughton Public Schools has made a committment to improving SEL practices in our buildings to truly meet the needs of students. One Principal worked to establish a Tier 1 advisory opportunity for all students focused on relationship building while the other established an intricate mentoring program that met students needs on a Tier 2 and/or Tier 3 basis. While still not enough, these SEL shifts bring CASEL to life in the elementary setting alongside staff SEL development, ongoing feedback and observation to increase student relationships and make sure all students have someone they can go to when they need the most support.
