'24 MSAA Summer Institute

As the new Principal at Scituate High School, one of our goals was to improve our school culture and make good connections with our staff and students.  My team and I implemented a lot of programs from day one. My presentation will be to share some of these school culture building activities to give administrators some ideas on ways to improve school culture in their buildings.

1.Opening Day shout outs on a personal interest (staff shares an interest and other staff members pick who it is)
2.Class cup challenge (points for classes going to events)
3.Sailor of the Month Awards (teacher nominate)
4.Splash events on half a day (fun events)
5.Blue Cards for high honors, honor roll, and perfect attendance (give students a prize)
6.Wall of Excellence (students write their names on a block of a wall sharing their accomplishments)
7.Staff attendance at an after school event as part of their contracted nights out.
8.Mentor Program (Matching leaders to 9th grade at-risk students)
