When you were preparing to be an administrator, did you realize that a large part of the job was crisis management? Maintaining safety, navigating social media, communicating with students, faculty and families, and providing the best resolution possible often happens simultaneously. All of this requires having systems in place ahead of time to manage these ever changing dynamics. Whether it is an incident of discrimination, a medical emergency, a safety threat, or a plumbing issue that might result in a dismissal, administrators are charged with deciding how to proceed in incredibly challenging situations.

Come hear how schools can work collaboratively as an administrative team and with community partners; including first responders as well as public and mental health entities, to ensure that when a school-based emergency occurs, school personnel are equipped to respond immediately to reduce the impact. Concrete examples, clear takeaways, and helpful language provided.
